Showcasing innovations for market driver India

ITME 2008: Oerlikon Textile presents the “Circle of Success”

ITME 2008: Oerlikon Textile, the leading manufacturer of textile machinery and plant, exhibits technological innovations to open up the market further

Remscheid, Bangalore, 15 September 2008 – At INDIA ITME 2008, the eighth international textile machinery show taking place from 15-22.11.08 in Bangalore, Oerlikon Textile will be presenting many successful products and innovations in its 700m2-plus “Circle of Success” (hall 3, A118). For this segment of Swiss high-tech group Oerlikon, the textile growth market of India is one of the main drivers for developing its business.

All five business units (BUs) of Oerlikon Textile will be represented at the Bangalore exhibition site: Oerlikon Barmag, Oerlikon Neumag, Oerlikon Saurer, Oerlikon Schlafhorst and Oerlikon Textile Components. “We want to show by this how significant India is for us as a leading manufacturer of textile machinery and plant,” stresses Dr Carsten Voigtländer. Against this backdrop, the CEO of Oerlikon Textile will announce the forthcoming start of production at the Halol plant. The segment currently employs over 540 people in India – and it aims to grow further there. The technological innovations for this are being exhibited at ITME.

Oerlikon Barmag: Focus on industrial yarns
In response to the burgeoning interest in the production of industrial yarn in India, the leading manmade fibre specialist is exhibiting an innovative solution for yarns with low titres and applications in which the minimum of shrinkage is crucial. The new 16-end technology of the godet system promises higher productivity with simultaneously low conversion costs. Another exhibit is the POY platform WINGS, which will soon be going into operation in India for the first time. This plug-and-play machine unit integrates godets and tangling unit into the winder, guaranteeing consistently excellent yarn quality, greater productivity and efficiency due to lower air and space requirements and potential savings with regard to operating staff. The focus in the DTY sector is on the new texturing machine eFK: it combines the energy-saving MPS and COCOON godet technology with the proven ergonomic handling of the FK6-1000. The PROMIX VS spinning pump excels with its mixing and metering system, which ensures a supply of homogeneous melt to the individual component pumps and thus also a lower yarn break rate.

Oerlikon Neumag: technological expertise in carpet yarns, staple fibres and nonwovens
The company offers the most comprehensive range of turnkey solutions in the market for the production of nonwovens for the target markets of hygiene, medical and filters up to automotive and other industrial end uses. This is based on all the major nonwoven technologies: airlaid, carding and spunlaid. The show highlights are improved FOR carding technologies, Fehrer needle punching and Autefa crosslapping techniques. The spotlight will also be on the modular S5 system for manufacturing high-grade BCF carpet yarn, the turnkey plants S3 (for monocolour yarns) and Variomelt (for mono- and tricolour yarns) as well as the new Sytec One concept with only one end per position. Also on show will be the 2-step plant concept for the production of synthetic staple fibres, facilitating significant productivity increases with production capacities of up to 400 tonnes of PET fibres a day.

Oerlikon Saurer: Innovations for twisting and embroidery systems
After ITMA Asia, the arrival of the Volkmann FusionTwister brings the global innovation to India too. The new two-for-one twisting machine for staple fibre yarn delivers future-oriented answers to trends such as finer titres and higher energy prices. It replaces its successful predecessor model FOCUS and considerably extends the production spectrum once more.
Oerlikon Saurer will also be reinforcing its position as leading supplier of shuttle embroidery machines and additional facilities such as Sequins and Soutache device or laser cutting device.

Oerlikon Schlafhorst: top process expertise in staple fibre spinning
The market and innovation leader in staple fibre spinning is exhibiting many of its latest successful products. With 416 spinning units and take-up speeds of 200 m/min, the new BD 416 generation of rotor spinning machines occupies a top slot as the most productive machine in its class worldwide. Some of the arguments in its favour include the electronic EVA control system, which permits the yarn quality to be controlled precisely and reproducibly, and convincing piecing reliability levels of 95 percent. In ring spinning, the Zinser 68i roving machine is on show, with interesting new features such as four independent drive shafts or its intelligent control system EasySpin, which ensures low roving break rates and permanently high speeds. The successful Autoconer 5 will also be present at ITME with the Autoconer 5S model. A versatile all-rounder, the new rewinding machine with PreciFX comes with everything required for rewinding precleared yarn onto process-optimized packages. It thus demonstrates its performance potential and flexibility in the production of dye packages as well as for the production of hard packages for knitting and weaving.

Oerlikon Schlafhorst Customer Support: leading the way in the supply of original parts, technology kits, modernization kits and service kits
The “SUN – Service Unlimited” service initiative is receiving support at ITME also from the “Pro-Original” campaign of the VDMA. Oerlikon Schlafhorst Customer Support offers original parts and technological advice, plus attractive modernization and service packages for all machine generations and product lines. A new feature is the Autocoro cooling kit for maximum productivity even in climates generating high ambient temperatures. The “Optimized Pressure Arm” conversion kit improves piecing efficiency and offers greater spinning stability on older BD machines.

Oerlikon Textile Components: with high-tech components to a quality product
The new business unit presents its product lines Accotex, Daytex, Enka Tecnica, Heberlein, Temco, Fibrevision and Texparts on the adjacent stand and offers a product portfolio ranging from staple fibre and filament spinning to nonwovens.
